Muévete con seguridad

Before you hit the road, take a minute to read a few tips that can help keep you safe while you ride.

Road safety experts such as National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) are focused on encouraging safer rider behaviors – all with the goal of keeping people safe. Here’s what they suggest you do:

Ponte el casco

Experts believe that safe riding begins with wearing a helmet. We agree.

Don’t have one? We’ve partnered with Thousand and Retrospec to provide great deals on their helmets.*

Revisa el patinete antes de moverte

JUMP’s technicians perform multi-point inspections to help ensure that each bike and scooter is fit for riding, but it’s important to always check that tires are in good condition and brakes operate correctly before you ride. Bike riders can also adjust their seat height for comfort.

Conoce la posición de los frenos

Always brake early and gradually – especially when going downhill. Bike riders should use both brakes at the same time.

Riding a scooter? All scooters have hand brakes on the left handlebars. Press down on the lever to brake. Some scooter models also have a step brake above the rear tire that can be used in addition to the hand brake.

Finished riding? Park inside the JUMP zone shown on the map in your app, and be aware of no-parking areas. Make sure you’re looking out for others and never leave your bike or scooter blocking walkways or accessibility ramps.

Avoid Hills on Scooters

Do not ride a scooter down steep hills. High speed can overpower the electric brake causing loss of control. Use the rear foot brake to control speed. Always get off and walk down steep hills.
